Colin Kressler Charity Golf Tournament
Hosted by the Ontario Visually Impaired Golfers (OVIG) association, the Inaugural Claude Pattemore Charity scramble at Hamilton’s Chedoke Martin golf course will be held on Thursday August 17, 2017 , starting at 11:00 am.
The event will take place following the Canadian Blind Golf Championships being held from August 14, 2017 in the City of Hamilton. Thirty golfers from around the world will be participating in this event which was last hosted in Ontario in 2008.
With your support, we hope to increase awareness about people golfing with vision loss and to hopefully increase the rate of participation by others who may not have thought it possible.
All proceeds from the event will go towards promoting and increasing the participation in the sport of golf to blind and visually impaired people in Ontario.
Honouring Claude Pattemore
A notable Ontario blind golfer, Claude Pattemore, took up golf three years after losing his sight in a dynamite explosion in 1948. By the following year, he had become the best blind golfer in the country. He remained one of North America’s premier blind golfers for more than 20 years, and was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame in 2000.
